Privacy Policy

Sporkast is designed to save and discover recipes without requiring a personal account. This policy explains what the app and supporting API process.

Information you provide

When you import a recipe, Sporkast sends the recipe URL to the Sporkast recipe parser API. The API fetches the public page and returns structured recipe details such as title, description, author, image URL, ingredients, steps, timings, servings, tags, ratings, and source URL.

If you import text, selected web content, markdown, or OCR output, Sporkast may send that text and an optional source hint to the parser API to detect recipe fields.

Discovery data

To power recipe discovery, the API may receive an anonymous installation identifier, optional home identifier, locale, source domains, existing recipe URLs, optional weather or season context, a hashed iCloud user record name, candidate IDs, source URLs, and feedback events such as impression, open, import started, import succeeded, hidden, or not interested. Discovery feedback is retained for a limited period to improve suggestions.

Social recipe parsing

If a social post needs recipe extraction from text, the parser may send the source URL and public post description to OpenAI to identify recipe fields. Sporkast does not ask you to submit private messages or private social content for this flow.

On-device and Apple services

Recipes, folders, tags, meal plans, shopping lists, timer state, and settings are stored on your device and may sync through Apple services such as iCloud, CloudKit sharing, Reminders, Calendar, widgets, or WeatherKit when you enable related features. Apple handles those services under your Apple ID and Apple privacy settings.

Purchases

Sporkast uses RevenueCat to manage subscription status and purchase restoration. RevenueCat may process app user or installation identifiers, product identifiers, receipt or transaction information, entitlement state for “Sporkast Pro,” subscription tier, available offerings, and related purchase diagnostics. Payment details are handled by Apple, not by Sporkast.

Feature flags

Sporkast uses LaunchDarkly to safely roll out and configure features. LaunchDarkly receives the app installation identifier as the context key, app version, subscription tier, automatically collected mobile environment attributes, and flag evaluation data needed to serve those features. Sporkast opts out of LaunchDarkly diagnostic event collection.

Support

If you contact support, Sporkast receives the information you choose to include, such as your email address, a recipe URL, screenshots, and a description of the issue.
